Earth Day is on the 22 April. It is a day that focuses on the environmental issues in the world. Unfortunately there are way too many, so this day should be extremely important to everyone.
Plastic Sucks!
This year particularly I want to focus on plastic. I know it’s just general knowledge that plastic is one of the biggest causes of global warming and pollution, but since it’s such a problem, more people need to speak up about it.
Even if We Don’t Realise it!
So, that is why this Earth Day I want to focus on it. By focus on it I mean spreading awareness of exactly how dangerous it is. It kills everything… and so many animals are affected by it. Humans are also affected … even if we don’t realize it.
It pollutes our oceans and our fish, which makes them very unhealthy for us to eat. It pollutes the land and kills the birds and insects that are all part of an ecosystem. These ecosystems keep the world spinning. Not literally, because that’s what gravity does, but all ecosystems help each other out to keep us alive. Even if we don’t realize it.
Everything we put into the world will come back to us in some way or another. And since we are polluting it so much, it’s no wonder that all our food is so full of it and other bad things. Of course, we can still change that. even if we don’t realize it.
Recycle, paper bags, less plastic, organic food. These are all ways we can help solve the problem and eat less polluted food. And spread the word. Let people know about this special day and remember to think green!
Why Think Green?
Earth Day is a global movement now. Earth Day is one day set aside in the year, that symbolises every other day. It is time for world leaders to sit up, stand up and take action!
Our world needs transformational change. It’s time for the world to hold sectors accountable for their role in our environmental crisis while also calling for bold, creative, and innovative solutions. This will require action at all levels, from business and investment to city and national government.
Every single person has the power to change the world. Just say NO. Say NO to plastic, say NO to food waste, say NO to pollution and consumerism. Don’t be a part of that material world. Speak up and act now.

One person can make a big difference. Join the global litter cleanup. Every piece of litter removed from the environment counts. There are many ways to cleanup on your own. Try these few examples:
- Pick up Cigarette butts – The most abundant form of plastic pollution and harm our environment in many way.
- Trail Cleanups – Cleanup the your favorite hiking trail.
- Cleanup at home – Look at what the waste you create, remove the single use items and other items that you commonly throw away.
Gather a team to do a Cleanup! Whether its two people or ten people, a well organized cleanup can have a major impact!
- Find the right location (Park, trials, or community streets)
- Gather your team
- Cleanup your community
